It called itself Drakesun, and claimed nationhood. In reality, Drakesun was a conglomeration of warlords who seized the opportunities afforded by the collapse of nations in the wake of the rise of Ret-Talus. And everything Drakesun saw, it claimed as its own. Who could say otherwise, for Drakesun wielded the power of ancient dragons, and it was hard to doubt the authority of dragon riders.
But Drakesun did not own the dragons, nor did it own the people it claimed dominion over. When Kedda Umber found a summoning stone deep in the mines where she was forced to labor, the balance of power shifted. Almost overnight, Kedda burned the camp she was held in to the ground, joined by a growing throng of followers. When Drakesun sent its two dragon riders to bring the rebels to heel, the dragons saw an opportunity, and turned on their oppressors as well. Kedda Umber became Pyra Stormrider, and in a month's time, Drakesun was no more. Now the Drakesun Rebellion roams Itharia, righting perceived wrongs and throwing down oppressive regimes.
